Moments after Emre Yilmaz made eChampions League history, by beating Vejrgang in the 2025 Grand Final and becoming the first ever two-time winner of the competition, he spoke to football icon Ruud Gullit.
The two-time Champions League winner first asked about how Emre was feeling after his well-earned victory, to which Emre replied:
“Amazing. I don't know, I was so shaky in the end. But, to win it for the second time, It's unbelievable. So, I worked hard for this, and I'm so happy.”
After the narrow 2-1 victory for Emre, Ruud was curious as to what the new champion’s gameplay was to overcome the current World No.1. To which Emre had a simple answer:
“Controlling the game. I know if I control the game against him and don't make mistakes that I win, but I made a couple mistakes. But tonight it doesn't matter.”
Ruud then asked about the spurned opportunities and close moments Emre had during the match, adding that he could have been punished for those missed opportunities. The player representing Real Sociedad responded by saying:
“Yeah. But you need luck to win it, to win the trophy. And I had that today, so I'm happy.”
But Ruud was not convinced, adding that:
“Look, you won all your games. So there's no luck involved there. No luck. It’s only Skills”
To which the ever humble Emre replied, “Little bit.”
It was at this time Emre was given the chance to say thank you to those who have supported him, stating that, “I want to thank everyone. That helped me, that supported me. And, this trophy for them.”

Then the founder of Team Gullit pointed out an impressive statistic:
“I think so, too. And, Team Gullit is still very happy. Another player. So I won not only two Champions League. This is four Champions League, now I won. Thank you very much Emre for that too.”
A smiling Emre responded with a sincere “Thank you” to his friend and mentor.
The Dutch legend then addressed the winner with praise: Thank you... It was a wonderful, wonderful day, for you, especially.”
And with a single word, Emre summarised the day and his achievement: “Amazing!”
This eChampions League certainly was impressive for the two-time winner. Having won eight and drawn one throughout the tournament, he achieved the unthinkable by remaining undefeated on course to glory.
The final question from Ruud was a very important one, asking Emre, “We're going to celebrate this?”
“Of course”, beamed the 2025 eChampions League winner.
Congratulations to Emre Yilmaz on winning the 2025 eChampions League.
