The dust has finally settled on what was an incredible weekend of action during the eChampions League Knockout stage.
Plenty of new EA SPORTS FC players made a name for themselves this weekend, which gives us plenty to talk about as we head towards the eChampions League Finals on 29 May in London, England. Fans can buy tickets for the Finals live by clicking HERE.
Here are the three things we learned from the eChampions League Knockout stage.
And then there were eight…
After a weekend of exhilarating contests, eight of Europe’s top FC players have progressed to the eChampions League Finals.
Many fans expected players like Emre Yilmaz, Manu Bachoore and Bonanno to make it through, but there were some surprise entrants that were involved in some incredible upset victories over the weekend.
Now we know who will be competing in the quarter-finals, who do you think will lift the trophy this year.
A weekend of upsets
Not only did fans get to see some amazing games played over the weekend, they also witnessed some huge favourites crash out of the competition.
The biggest surprise of the weekend has to be PHzin losing to eLigue 1 champion Montaxer. Following wins at the FC Pro Open and the eDivisie, many pegged the Brazilian to add another trophy to his already stellar resume.
However, Montaxer was able to beat PHzin at his own game, suffocating his attack until he was able to find enough space to create a shot on goal.
The thrill of victory
There’s nothing quite like seeing an FC player celebrate a goal on the big stage and we saw plenty of incredible celebrations on the weekend.
Whether it was DaniPitbull’s howl after securing his spot in the Finals or Riptorek planting a kiss on his partner/coach after finding success, fans got a chance to see how much a victory means to each of the players still remaining in the tournament.
