The world No.1 FC Pro player beat Nicolas99fc 6-5 in the quarter-finals, overcame Samugamer by the same scoreline in the semis and then beat HHezerS 3-2 in the Grand Final to take the eChampions League title for the first time. However, the 20-year-old Dane told Germany great Bastian Schweinsteiger that it had not been a vintage performance by his standards.

"I played bad all day, but I still won," said Vejrgang, who was runner-up in last season's eChampions League, and now the seventh player to win the competition. "I think that shows that I'm much better than everyone else because I played on, I would say 50%, and it was still enough to win.

"Gameplay wise, I didn't really play that well... the Tekkz game [in the round of 16] I won in a penalty shoot-out; these three games [in the finals], I won by one goal.

"I can still play better and I still want to continue winning, and I know that I'm capable of doing so. But if I keep playing like this, that is probably the last tournament I'm going to win."

Vejrgang, who plays for Como Gaming Club, admitted his celebrations were a little muted after the final as he "didn't play that good" but as he reflected on his victory, he felt he was at the absolute pinnacle of his powers. "I played for four years," he said. "I won literally every single tournament, so I don't think I have to prove more."
